Sound familiar? Whether you are a professional athlete, a weekend warrior, or somewhere in between, your life revolves around your sport. If you aren't participating, you are watching. The lifestyle of a competitive athlete is about performance; being just a little bit better today than we were yesterday. Constantly pushing the envelope; testing our own endurance, strength, speed, and resolve. We endure crashes, falls, cramps, and injuries. We bonk, puke, dehydrate, and lose control of bodily functions. We tear things, scrape things, twist things, cut things, and bruise things. We go through upset, disappointment, frustration, joy and exhileration. We laugh and we cry - occasionally at the same time. We lose by inches and win by miles. We are our own best friend and our own worst enemy. We are our staunchest supporter and our harshest critic. We are driven by the need to know exactly what we are capable of achieving. We compete, not against the other guy, but against ourselves because at the end of the day, we have only ourselves to answer to and tomorrow...tomorrow is another training day!
Massage on the Move can offer the competitive athlete a personalized program of massage, neuromuscular therapy, stretching & strengthening, and nutrition that will assist in gaining and maintaining strong and consistent training, optimum competitive performance, and rapid recovery. We've been there; we know what it takes.
Peak performance - being capable of delivering the maximum sustained effort and pushing yourself up to and beyond the limits of your abilities when you've called upon yourself to do so; rising to the occasion; going above and beyond; leaving it all on the field, on the court, on the road, in the ring, on the ice, in the water, on the track; giving 110%; going all-out all the time. And knowing, all the while, that you did this; you made this happen; you brought out the best in yourself when nothing less than the best was required. When just reading that last sentence gives you chills and makes every hair on your body stand up. There is no other feeling in the world like the one that you get having just delivered the best performance of your life, winning the gold medal, breaking a world record, or just knowing that on that day, in that place, at that time, you are the best at what you do. Once you've felt it, no force on earth can take it away from you. It's burned into your very heart and soul, and the memory is there to be summoned every time you compete and every time you train. It wakes you up every morning and it puts you to sleep every night. It lifts you every single day and it drives you. That's the Peak Performance Experience. At Massage on the Move, our goal is to assist you getting to that point, competing at that point, and getting back to that point post-competition as quickly as possible, because for the competitve athlete, amateur or professional, we know that today's peak performance is just tomorrow's starting point.
We have put together a framework for competitive athletes in terms of Personal Training, for lack of a better term. This is a package product that we design based upon an initial (Free) consultation. The consultation is not an assessment, but an information gathering session in which we discuss goals, obstacles, known injuries/limitations, sport specific requirements, upcoming competitions, and current lifestyle. From that information, we will construct a program that we feel best meets the timeframe and the needs of the athlete. If the program is appealing to the athlete, we will determine the price and payment terms for the program.
We like to start off small - a set of specific goals in a specific timeframe. We ask only that the athlete see the program through until completion. When we are successful, we can choose to repeat the process or design a new program with a broader scope. Every program starts with a thorough assessment of posture & range of motion along with some strength testing. We expect that you will be the foremost authority on your own body since it is the primary tool of your sport and will expect you to be straightforward about what's going on. (No need to try and hide anything from us. We're going to have our hands on you and if something isn't quie right, we're going to find it anyway.) We include massage and neuromuscular therapies that are specific to the sport and the athlete. We utilize stretching and strengthening exercises specific to improved performance, speed, flexibility, and injury prevention. On site, day of competiton services can be included if appropriate. Counseling on proper rest, nutrition, and supplementation are also part of the program. We consider this to be one of our flagship offerings. We hold competitive athletes of all sports in very high regard and we very much would like to see you attain all of your goals.
