About Massage on the Move

Swedish Massage with a little more Oooph!

The Deep Pressure Massage from Massage on the Move is one of our signature services. It is available as either a 30 minute or 60 minute session and can be supplemented with Aromatherapy. We do not want you to think that this is a heavy-handed technique or that you will leave the session battered and bruised. What we have realized is that despite a Swedish Massage being relaxing and soothing, it tends not address some of the underlying tensions or aches and pains. Because of the more superficial approach, the relaxation is not necessarily long lasting or the headache comes back and you are right back where you started. The majority of our clients say that they are much more interested in the "relief" aspects of massage than simply to "relax", and we have found that affording a client relief from a distracting condition or specific discomfort typically affords a deeper and more long term relaxation as well.

For the Deep Pressure Massage, we use the same types of strokes as with Swedish Massage. The difference is that as we repeat each stroke we will push a little deeper into the area, reaching into tissue layers that lie beneath the outer musculature. It is in these deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue that we tend to hold most of our tension. We also tend to use thumb, knuckle, forearm, and elbow strokes rather than only the open hand. If you have had a Swedish Massage in the past, you might find that our Deep Pressure Massage is slightly faster paced and that there is most definitely a wider variety of strokes used during the session. When we do come across a trigger point or an area that is knotted and tender, we spend a little more time there "coaxing" the tissues to release. Any discomfort is usually short-lived and falls into that category of "hurts so good". We make sure to "put you back together" before we leave and will keep reminding you to drink at least 2 liters of water during the 24 hours following the session to help flush toxins released from the deeper tissue layers from the body.

Following a Deep Pressure Massage session with our 30 minute detox foot bath is a wonderful way to get rid of those toxins as well, and scheduling the detox and the massage together will earn you a discount.
